In this guide, we will run through how to install mods to your server. Please note, this is a rough guide, and different modes may require different external mods, so its always best to read the description first. Also note that some mods are client side only, if this is the case, please do not upload this to your servers mod folder, but rather your local mods folder only. If you have already tried to install mods and you are experiencing crashing or issues - please create a support ticket and our team can help resolve that.
- Find your mods via https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods . From here, you can select from the filters at the top depending on your game-version of Forge installed. For this tutorial, we are installing a mod for a Forge 1.12.2 server, however, you will want to select the game-version that matches your installation. If you are unsure, on each mod page you will see the game-version supported at the top.
- Then you will want to click the Relations tab on the mod, to check if it requires any external mods. Some mods require others to work, so its important to download these. In this example, you can see there were no other dependant mods, however, if you see a list of other mods, please make sure to download these also for the same Forge version.
Note, you can find older, or other game-versions for a specific mod by clicking "Files", then clicking "View All". This will show a list of files, and a dropdown in the top right which will allow you to select a specific game-version. It is always best to download the most recently updated version of the mod for your game-version.
3. Once you have all your mods downloaded (these will be .jar files), you will need to click File Manager in your control panel.
4. Then navigate to the 'mods' folder.
5. Then, click Upload in the top right corner, and proceed to upload all the mods to the mods folder.
6. Once done, you can restart your server! You will need to drag the same mods into your local 'mods' folder for your Forge installation. You can find out how to do this by checking this article here.
