How to upgrade your MInecraft server to 1.16 (The Nether Update)

The Minecraft 1.16. (Nether Update) is finally here!

If you have a VillagerHost server already, we already have the 1.16. jar file pre-installed to our panel for Vanilla. If you purchase a new server, 1.16. will come preinstalled.

If you have an existing server with us, we will not automatically update your server for you as we understand not everyone wants their servers to be automatically changed. Please see our guide below for those who want to upgrade. Please note this will delete your existing Nether world.

  1. First, stop your server completely.

2. Download the 1.16 server jar file by clicking here

Please note this is Minecraft Vanilla

3. Once downloaded, visit "File Manager" in your control panel, delete the existing 'Server.jar' file,

4. After deleting the old server.jar file, upload the new one you have just downloaded!

Note - the progress bar will turn green once this file has been uploaded.

4. Then, click on your worlds folder (Default is called World), and delete the DIM-1 folder.
